Online security and safety is very important. That is why, with the ATO’s recent announcement about tighter security requirements for tax sensitive data, Xero is extending the use of Xero login to apply to Xero Practice Manager and Xero Tax. Also, Xero will soon make two-step authentication (2SA) mandatory across these products and Xero HQ.
The importance of two-step authentication
Two-step authentication creates an additional layer of security. It requires you to enter an additional code that’s been generated by the authentication app on your device as you’re logging in. Learn more about 2SA in Xero here.
Mandated two-step authentication is coming
From late January 2018, single sign-on via Xero (with two-step authentication) will be available for users of Xero Practice Manager and Xero Tax. To comply with ATO’s new data security requirements, it’ll be mandatory from March 2018. So, don’t wait, get ready for 2SA by ensuring everyone using Xero has a unique login and not sharing passwords.
If you already have a Xero login, activate 2SA now to get ready.
